I'm going to keep this one short and sweet due to a hectic Christmas period, and consequently the hangover period, so just a little update on all that's going on in the women's world!
Monday 12th January saw the FIFA Women's World Player of the Year award, and our very own Kelly Smith was there to represent England. She consequently lost out to Brazil's Marta, who retained the title, nether the less she was just as proud to be there!!
Last week saw the FA host their first ever Women’s UEFA Study Visit. It took place at Loughborough University and welcomed over 21 representatives from the likes of the Turkey and Faroe Islands FA Associations. The scheme lasted 4 days, and the purpose was to give the visitors an insight on how to structure and develop girls' and women's football, similar to that of England's. Sir Trevor Brooking, Director of Football Development at The FA was also present.
Not a major surprise, but Scunthorpe United will host the FA Tesco Women’s Premier League Cup Final. The 9000 capacity stadium will see eight time winners Arsenal take on Doncaster Rovers Belles.
And finally HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
